By 2050, all Dutch houses must ideally be gas-free. With the FlexTherm Eco, Flamco introduces an innovative solution that contributes to this energy transition.
The FlexTherm Eco is a thermal charging station that directly converts electricity into heat, which is stored for the hot water provision. The device is characterised by a compact design and efficient operation, so that it fits into any home and is also extremely energy efficient (energy rating A+ for standby loss).
How do you ensure there is enough hot tap water in a home without a gas connection? To answer that question, Flamco developed the extremely compact and efficient thermal battery FlexTherm Eco, which uses a Phase Change Material (PCM) for thermal storage. This material changes state with changes in temperature, by melting or crystallising, and thus stores energy or releases it.
FlexTherm Eco uses inorganic salts as the PCM, which is heated up by an electric coil to 70 C, after which it becomes liquid. When there is a need for hot tapwater, the salt cools down and the heat released is transferred by heat exchangers to produce hot tapwater.
In addition, the FlexTherm Eco, in combination with solar panels, can serve as a hotfill function to fill the washing machine or dishwasher with hot water, which leads to energy savings of 75 to 80% per cycle, significantly contributing to lower electricity costs in a household.

The installation of the battery is simple û one water and one 230V electrical connection are enough û and maintenance is hardly needed, due to the lack of moving parts. The battery can also charge and discharge endlessly without loss of yield.
