What is a solar cable?

A solar cable is needed to connect solar panels to an inverter. Solar cables are often used outdoors, so they meet various properties. They are UV-resistant, water-repellent, and often also heat-resistant.

Different solar cables

In the Alius webshop, you will find different cables for solar panels and related accessories. You will find cables in various colours and in different thicknesses and lengths. For example, we have cables on rolls of 100m and 500m. It is useful to use cables of different colours. This way, you can easily distinguish between the functions or connections of wires.

What you need to know about solar cables

Solar panels are connected in series with solar cables (DC). Per series, you connect two solar cables to the inverter (positive and negative). The inverter is then connected to a consumer unit. Note: you do not use a solar cable for this. For this, you need an AC cable.

What is the difference between a DC solar cable and an AC power cable?

Solar panels generate direct current, which runs through DC cables. After conversion to alternating current by an inverter, AC cables are used.
