What is an inverter, and how does it work?

An inverter can convert the input voltage from solar panels into another voltage. This is necessary because solar panels initially convert solar energy into direct current (DC). This current cannot be used directly in and around a home or business. Therefore, an inverter converts the DC into stable alternating current (AC) at 230V, making solar energy usable for the power grid.
